So, Beren set of, secretly followed by Luthien until he came to the elven city of Nargathrond were he asked king Finrod for help. King Finrod gave Beren ten warriors and asked if he could come himself. Beren agreed to this and they set off. When they came near to the place of Morgoth, however they were unable to maintain their disguise as orcs and were captured by servants of Sauron, Morgoth's leftenant.. Whilst imprisoned, they were one by one killed by a werewolf until there was only Finrod and Beren left. When, it was Finrod's turn to be eaten, he wrestled with the beast so hard that they were both killed. While Luthien was following Beren, she was captured by two of Fëanor's sons who dident want her to get the Silmarill but one of the Fëanorian's dogs helped her escape. With the help of The dog, she got to Sauron's fortress, freed all of the prisoners including Beren and even defeated Sauron in wolf form. Using magic, the two then took the form of a wolf and a bat and using these shapes were able to sneak into Morgoth's palace. There Luthien sang a magical song that put Morgoth to sleep while Beren cut a Silmarill from his crown. however, when Beren tried to cut the second Silmarill, his knife shattered and a shard glanced of Morgoth's face, waking him. Beren and Luthien fled the room but when they got to the gate they found it was guarded by Carcharoth, a giant werewolf. Carcharoth bit of Berens hand with the Silmarill in it but the pure light from the Silmarill burnt through his stomach so that he ran off madly. Beren then fled with Luthien to the house of Thingol. When they got there, their tale softened Thingols heart and he allowed them to get married. However, later, Carcharoth came to the city and caused much damage, he killed Beren and with his last breath he gave the gem to Thingol. In grief, Luthien died and came to the halls of the Valar Mandos. He took pity on them and restored Luthien and Beren back to life under the understanding that Luthien was to become mortal.
